How to Make a Temporary Tattoo at Home

Temporary tattoos are a great alternative to permanent ink. They are easy and fast to apply. They last only for a short duration.

Compared to permanent tattoos, temporary tattoos are safer. They are made up of different components than tattoo ink.

Water slide paper

Creating a temporary tattoo at home is simple. You need only a few supplies from a craft store or online. You can find images online or create your own using photo editors. Online galleries are also an excellent source of design ideas.

After you have your image, you need to use water slide paper. This paper will ensure the tattoo adheres securely to your skin. It also lasts longer than regular printing paper.

Next, cut your water slide paper. Make sure to leave a 1/2-inch margin around your design. This extra space is needed for cutting.

Spray your paper with a fragranced spray. This will draw attention to your tattoo and make it look more realistic.

Perfume

Perfume is essential when making a temporary tattoo. It helps apply the design to your skin. Choose a bouquet with a high alcohol content.

Spray the chosen perfume in the area where you will place your tattoo. The fragrance will increase the adhesiveness of the tattoo. It will also help the tracing paper stick better to your skin.

Next, place the fragranced paper in hot or boiling water. Be careful not to damage the form. Then, remove it carefully.

Scissors

Scissors are handy for making temporary tattoos. They can be used to cut out your designs. Graphics software programs can also be used to print designs.

Cut your temporary tattoos carefully. Sharp edges can tear the design and leave the paper on your tattoo.

Temporary tattoos are similar to Cricut temporary stickers. They are made of similar materials but are designed for the skin. You can create them yourself. Or you can choose from the Cricut Design Space’s Print Then Cut library.

Your temporary tattoo will feel slightly spongy once it dries. This is normal. Over time, the spongy feeling will fade. If your tattoo begins to flake or feels dry, clean it. Then, moisturize it 2-4 times each day.

Hot water

Clean your skin before applying a temporary tattoo. Remove any makeup, body lotion, or perfume near the tattoo area.

Avoid submerging your tattoo in water. This can prevent it from healing properly. It can also affect the final look of the tattoo.

Once your tattoo is dry, shower with lukewarm water, this will help your tattoo heal and keep it soft.
