How to Press on Tattoos

Whether you’re new to the world of tattoos or simply testing out a design before committing to a permanent one, temporary tattoos offer a variety of solutions.

Screen Printing

The method most commonly employed to create high-quality designs is screen printing. This involves printing an image onto paper coated with a transfer film. When this film is moistened, it “slides” onto the skin, producing impressive visual effects.

Using Water Slide Paper

Water slide paper is a transfer paper specifically designed for creating tattoos.

When used in the context of amusement parks, water slides are structures with flowing water that reduces friction, leading to a fun ride that typically ends in a pool. Users generally ride these slides using mats or tubes. Some slides, known as body slides, don’t use these devices; instead, users lie directly on the slide.

If you’re planning to create multiple tattoos, buying several sheets of water slide transfer paper is wise to ensure you have enough for all your projects.

Creating tattoos using water slide paper can be a fun and engaging way to personalize projects or add extra flair. They’re handy for special events like Christmas or parties!

Using a Stencil

Stencils are handy for transferring designs onto various surfaces, from letters and words to patterns and tattoos.

There are a few fundamental rules to remember when using stencils for tattoos.

Before using the stencil for the tattooing process, consider tracing your design on paper or wax paper.

After drawing your design, use a thermal or dot-matrix printer to print directly on the stencil material. This technique ensures more precise tracing and cleaner lines.

Using Eyeliner Pencils

Once your line is in place, smudge it with cotton swabs or round smudging brushes to create a softer effect. You might even consider using high-pigment black eyeliner for an easy smokey eye look.

Using Hairspray

Hairspray is a quick, easy, and cost-effective method for applying temporary tattoos. This straightforward application ensures that your tattoo appears sharp and clear without costing you a fortune.

However, only apply hairspray once the tattoo has thoroughly dried, and maintain a distance of 12-16 inches from it during application.

Hairspray can act as a sealant for your tattoo, preserving its design and preventing it from fading or rubbing off for several hours after application.

Modern hairsprays have evolved from their older versions using polymers that bind individual hair strands together. Unlike the rigid ingredients found in earlier iterations of this product, these modern formulations offer flexibility and movement for soft, manageable locks.
