One of the biggest problems that people face when getting a tattoo is how to handle the pain. Although a good numbing cream will help reduce the swelling, aspirin and paracetamol can make the pain more severe. Aspirin can also prevent the clotting process of the blood, making the image bleed more and resulting in a bad outcome. In addition, alcohol can increase the amount of pain and can have adverse effects on the healing process.

You can manage your picture pain using over-the-counter ibuprofen or paracetamol. Avoid asprin as this will slow down the clotting process, which can result in more bleeding and a poorer outcome. Instead, use acetaminophen or a mild NSAID. You can also take a nap or take a napkin to ease the pain. If you’re unsure of how to handle tattoo aftercare, check with your artist.
