Tattoo Aftercare Instructions

Treat It Like a Wound

Tattoos should be treated like any wound. There may be blood, plasma, and scabs in the first couple of days. Allow these to fall away naturally before applying antibiotics.

Cleanse Regularly

Clean your tattoo twice daily using antibacterial soap and warm water. Avoid over-moisturizing as it can lead to infection. Cleaning regularly reduces the risk of disease, fading, scarring, and other complications.

Avoid Picking at Scabs

Do not pick at or peel off scabs. Allow them to dissolve on their own. Once scabbing has subsided, you can wash your tattoo less frequently, but make sure to wash it thoroughly after dirty or sweaty activities.

Moisturize Properly

Wait three days before removing the bandage and applying lotion. Allowing your tattoo to weep initially will help in the recovery process. Afterward, use a light, unscented moisturizer or ointment in thin layers twice daily to lock in moisture without clogging pores.

Apply Sunscreen

Protect your tattoo and the surrounding skin with sunscreen and clothing in direct sunlight. Use tattoo-safe sunscreen with non-nano zinc oxide and broad-spectrum coverage. Apply it at least 15 minutes before going outdoors and reapply every 2-3 hours.

Cover It Up

Avoid tight clothing that could irritate your new tattoo. Wear loose-fitting clothing instead. Allow your tattoo to heal correctly before shaving over it, and use unscented razors with lotion for protection.

By following these aftercare instructions, you can ensure your new tattoo heals appropriately and remains vibrant while minimizing the risk of scarring or infection.
