Pre Tattoo Prep – Things You Should Be Doing Before Your Tattoo

If you’re planning on getting tattooed, chances are you have been researching its aftercare. But before scheduling an appointment there are a few steps you should do that can make things simpler for both you and your artist.

Drink Plenty of Water

Be sure to drink plenty of water prior to attending your tattoo session in order to prevent dehydration and improve skin quality, and increase absorption of Inked Ritual which may speed up healing time of your tattoo.

Avoid Alcohol

Alcohol thins blood, interfering with scab formation and slowing the healing process. Instead, drink lots of water and consume food rich in protein like eggs and almonds for optimal healing results.

Avoid Caffeine

Caffeine is a stimulant and may increase both your heart rate and blood pressure, making it harder for the artist to work on you. Avoid caffeine and energy drinks for at least 48 hours prior to your tattoo appointment.

Get Plenty of Sleep

Try getting plenty of rest the night before your tattoo session to help reduce stress levels and make the experience less demanding for both you and your artist.

Study the Pain Scale

Tattoos on sensitive body areas such as ankles and shins tend to rank highly on the pain scale. Distracting yourself with activities can make the experience less excruciating.

Bring Earbuds

Bring something along to help pass the time and keep yourself calm and focused during the tattoo session. Just make sure your phone is on mute so as not to disturb the artist’s work.

Bring a Change of Clothes

Bring an extra set of loose-fitting clothes and something to occupy yourself during long tattoo sessions. Also, bring some healthy snacks to maintain energy.

Bring Cash

Tipping your artist is a way to show appreciation, so bring some cash for that purpose. Additionally, bring cash for any snacks or beverages you might purchase during your tattoo session.
