Aftercare For Your New Tattoo

Tattoo Application and Initial Aftercare

Cover your new tattoo with plastic wrap and apply a thin layer of non-scented, antibacterial ointment or tattoo balm to prevent infection and promote healing. Avoid picking at scabs or allowing them to bleed.

Preparing for Your Tattoo Appointment

Ensure your skin is clean and ready before getting a tattoo. Limit activities that cause excessive sweating and avoid gym workouts to prevent irritation and the introduction of bacteria.

The Day After

Your first night with the new tattoo may be uncomfortable. Cover it securely to prevent oozing onto clothing or bedsheets. Once the initial healing period is over, wash gently with mild, fragrance-free soap and apply antibacterial ointment to protect new skin cells.

The First Few Days

Treat your tattoo as an open wound and follow a daily regimen of washing and moisturizing. Avoid swimming and hot tubs to prevent infection. Keep your hands clean, avoid excessive rubbing, and use a fragrance-free moisturizer for tattoo healing.

The First Week

During this week, oozing and swelling should subside. Your tattoo may appear cloudy or dull, but this is normal and will fade as deeper layers heal. Do not pick at scabs to avoid discoloration or scarring. Clean your tattoo twice daily with unscented antibacterial soap and protect it from contamination and UV exposure.
