Washing a New Tattoo

1. Wash Your Hands

New tattoo – it’s essential to wash it regularly. Be gentle and avoid scrubbing too forcefully to prevent damage to the ink. Wash for about 5 minutes per day.

2. Clean the Area

Proper aftercare is crucial for the longevity and attractiveness of your new tattoo. Avoid rubbing, scratching, or picking at your tattoo to prevent scarring or infection. Once fully healed, apply a fragrance- and alcohol-free moisturizer twice daily.

3. Rinse

Clean your new tattoo regularly with lukewarm water to prevent infection and scarring. Use antibacterial foam soap without fragrance and avoid harsh scrubbing or using towels. Rinse with water to remove any leftover soap or foam residue. Pat dry with a paper towel or let it air dry naturally. Clean your tattoo daily to keep it sweat- and particle-free until it’s completely healed (around 7 to 14 days).

4. Dry

Allow your new tattoo to dry completely to promote effective healing. Avoid exposing it to water, as this can cause fading and cracking over time. You can use a relaxed setting on your blow dryer or gently dab the area with a paper towel to dry it. Apply an aftercare moisturizer to restore moisture and aid in the healing process. Avoid picking or rubbing your tattoo while it’s wet, as this can lead to peeling and increase the risk of infection. Use soaps and cleansers for sensitive skin, and avoid those containing alcohol or fragrance.
