Aftercare for Finger Tattoos

Standard tattoo aftercare involves moisturizing the area around a new tattoo to prevent drying, itching, and scabbing. Finger tattoos can be more challenging since hands are constantly being used and washed.

Once you get a finger tattoo, following all aftercare instructions is essential. Finger Tattoos constantly move and come into contact with everything, so frequent washing is necessary to maintain good care. Use warm water and fragrance-free soap to gently cleanse the tattoo, pat it dry with a clean towel, and apply unscented hand lotion 3-5 times daily to restore natural oils and prevent drying.

Moisturizing is crucial for finger tattoo healing. It helps lubricate the skin, preventing picking or scratching that can cause premature peeling and compromise the design. After washing, pat the area dry and apply a fragrance-free white cream lotion or moisturizer containing shea butter and quinoa. Some moisturizers come with UV ray protection for additional safeguarding.

Even though Tattoos should be kept out of direct sunlight during healing, finger Tattoos may only sometimes be practical. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to protect the tattoo from UVA and UVB rays. Follow the directions on the sunscreen and reapply every two hours for optimal effectiveness. Mineral-based sunscreens and rub-on lotions are recommended.

Finger Tattoos heal differently from Tattoos on other body parts. Finger skin regenerates faster, which may cause fading, bleeding, or patchiness during healing. Clean fingers multiple times daily with liquid pump soap and moisturize with a water-based ointment. Consider cover-up designs to maintain the aesthetic of the tattoo.
